Once again this year, the members of the Alumni Association and their families are invited out to Cachalot for a family camping weekend, Memorial Day weekend, May 25th to 28th, 2007. Arrival should be after 4pm on Friday, May 25th, with departure by 11am, Monday, May 28th. All of the usual Camp rules & regulations will be in effect. Tent camping only, as Cachalot is neither equipped nor licensed for trailers or campers.
While there is no fee for the weekend, advance registration is required. You may register via email as described below. We will be doing some small service projects over the course of the weekend (assembling some picnic tables and tent platforms, and installing some new fencing at the waterfront), and we welcome volunteers! We expect the service projects to occupy only a few hours on Saturday and a few more on Sunday, so that people can spend the bulk of their time enjoying Cachalot with their families.
Sites are expected to be quiet by 10pm as a courtesy to other campers.
Continuing with what we started last year, we'll have some organized activities for the kids in attendance to help keep them occupied should you volunteer for one of the service projects, as well as a Sunday evening campfire and songfest. All the scheduled activities are purely optional.
Dave Goldrick is coordinating the weekend this year. Those interesting in attending or those who have questions should send email to familycamping@cachalotalumni.org. Please let him know how many will be coming, if you think you'll be able to help with any of the service projects, and what days you plan on attending.
Hope to see you out there! _________________ Dennis

Dave asked that I post the final list of projects that the Ranger has asked us to help with. Here they are, in order by priority, most important first, along with a list of tools that would be helpful to have (if people have tools to bring with them):
Waterfront Fence
Redecking tent platforms
- Hammers
- Pneumatic nailers (note: there is no power available at the work site)
Retaining wall
- chainsaw
- hammers
- sledgehammers
- levels
- shovels
- line levels
Picnic table assembly
