I hope everyone enjoyed the article on the history of the 21 Club in the first issue of The Cachaletter. Since we went to press, we have a few new tidbits of information.

First, I recently received a set of photos taken during the 1956 summer camp season, including photos taken of the 21 Club from that season.

Second, Arthur Caesar from Troop 100, Westport, recalls camping for the first time at the 21 Club as a boy in 1951.

These two items, along with the other research I did when prepping the story, make it all but certain that the 21 Club had been moved to Cachalot as early as 1950. This still isn't quite as early as the earliest report, which predates the purchase of Cachalot, but it does narrow the window down to sometime between 1946 and 1950. I have a set of slides taken in 1949 that do not show the 21 Club, but that doesn't really mean much.

Can anyone out there confirm a date before 1951?

I have a copy of the 1948 Summer Camp report for Cachalot. It specifically mentions that part of pre-camp preparation for that year was to clean out the 21 Club for use as the Trading Post for the summer.

So, we're now back to 1948 as the earliest confirmed year.

Can anyone go earlier?
