Hello Peter,
Every now and then when I google things about scouting and the old New Bedford area, I sometimes come across contributed articles by Michael J Vieira who is a Standard-Times Correspondent.

It also says that he is teaches at BMC Durfee Hight School. I have wondered if he was my first Camp Director at Cachalot. If it is, he was the Camp director in 1976-7. Also, when I joined the OA in 1971, he was the vice-chief and Vigil member.
I have read several nice pieces that he has written on Boy Scouts.
(Well that is my 2 cents from way up north)

I know Mike Vieira pretty well. He is a Troop Leader for Troop 303 in Swansea and he works at Bristol Community College.
