The Standard Times ran a small article about the Alumni Association in today's edition. It's online here:
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/01-05/01-05-05/a07lo227.htm
Unfortunately, they got the name of the web site wrong (they listed the Camp web site at http://www.campcachalot.org. Unfortunately, there are no links from that page to the main page here for a variety of reasons.) Hopefully, someone who reads about us will just use Google or something to find the real site.
And to anyone who did manage to find us from (or despite ) the article in the S-T, welcome! Sign up for the forums, introduce yourselves, and hopefully send in that membership form! _________________ Dennis

Some good news: yesterday was the busiest day for this web site since the week we first announced it, way back in July of '04, despite the Standard Times printing the wrong web site address.
Hope a few people decide to stick around! _________________ Dennis

Now that the Memorabilia Expo has come & gone (quite successfully), the Standard Times has run a second article covering the event. You can find it online here:
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/01-05/01-09-05/a04lo115.htm
...and they got the web site address right this time, too.
Today has been a very busy day for the site -- we're edging up on almost triple our normal daily number of visitors and almost seven times our normal overall traffic, and we seem to have had a small burst in new forum registrations. To those of you who've signed up -- Welcome! Don't forget to introduce yourselves!
I will be posting a "show wrap-up", complete with some pictures, sometime in the coming week, once I get the final numbers from Manny. There will be a main page announcement when this occurs, so be sure to come back again later! Many thanks to everyone who attended! _________________ Dennis

Why does it seem reproters can rarely get facts correct? That's my experience anyway. What are they writing on those little note pads? Mybe next time we should prepare a press release. I hate to do someone elses job FOR them, but if we want the info out there...

We issued a press release to all the local papers when we formed the association. Look here:
http://www.cachalotalumni.org/about/press/2004/0918_01.html
Unfortunately, all we got out of it was a one-paragraph blurb in the ProJo. I don't know how agressively this was pursued when it went out, though (follow-up phone calls and the like.)
We do plan on issuing more releases in the future. _________________ Dennis

Overall the articles were very good in the Standard Times. I give a lot of credit to the reporter for writing such a good article on such short notice. I hope in the future we are fortunate enough to keep working with Jonathan. _________________ Tom Whelan
