Memorial Day is right around the corner, and that means it's just about time to bring your families out to Cachalot for a long weekend of camping fun!
Once again this year, the members of the Alumni Association and their families are invited out to Cachalot for a family camping weekend, Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd to May 26th, 2008. Arrival should be after 4pm on Friday, and you should plan to depart by 11am on Monday. All of the usual Camp rules & regulations (which you can find here) will be in effect. Tent camping only, as Cachalot is neither equipped nor licensed for trailers or campers. Sites are first-come, first-served.
Sites are expected to be quiet by 10pm as a courtesy to other campers.
While there is no fee for the weekend, advance registration is required. You may register by sending email to familycamping@cachalotalumni.org. Please let us know how many will be coming, if you think you'll be able to help with the service project (see below), and what days you plan on attending.
As usual, we'll be spending a little time (a few hours on Saturday and a few more on Sunday--we want folks to be able to spend the bulk of their time enjoying Cachalot with their families!) working on an erosion problem on the hill below the Dining Hall. We hope you'll be willing to volunteer a bit of your time. Since we'll likely be doing some digging and moving brush around, it would be a good idea to bring suitable clothing including work gloves.
We'll also have some organized activities for the kids in attendance to help keep them occupied during the service project, as well as a Sunday evening campfire and songfest. All the scheduled activities are purely optional.
If you have questions, please send email to familycamping@cachalotalumni.org.
I'll be there with the family in tow, and I hope to see everyone out there! _________________ Dennis
