I was talknig with some buddies about the Klodike Derbies in which we had particiapted. Second only to summer camp this was my MOST favortie scouting event every year.
I LOVE being at Cachalot and I am always happy to see the camp used, but I also enjoyed the Klondike Derbies held at Buttonwood Park. It was interesting to be at a different site and was likely good visibility for scouting.
Remember those derbies around Buttonwood?

The Klondike’s always been one of my favorite events, too, and I’m glad I’ve been able to participate the last few years by helping run the warming hut with the other alumni. I’ve only missed (I think) 3 of them since they started, all right around the time my kids were born.
I remember the Klondikes at Buttonwood park! They were a nice change of pace, and they got local Scouting a lot of great visibility. I know there were at least 3 Klondikes held there (I attended at least 2 as a Scout, and helped staff one run by Russ Monast in 1989/1990 while I was in college).
Anyone else remember the Ravine de Grace? Or, going back further, the big vat of Wendy’s chili in the headquarters tent that Mr. (Ernest) Joyce brought out to help keep people warm? _________________ Dennis

Still the only time and place that I've ever seen Kim's Game played. Too bad. That's great game!
