Join Us for the Afternoon!

On January 8th, 2005, from 1:00PM through 5:00PM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Poirier Post #3260 in New Bedford we will be holding our first-ever Camp Cachalot Alumni Association Gathering and Memorabilia Show! We will be welcoming our new members, enjoying a hot and cold lunch buffet menu, and enjoying a little post-holidays cheer!

On tap for the afternoon we will have:

  • A brief welcome from our Association's Chairman
  • Displays of Camp Cachalot and related Scouting memorabilia
  • Slide presentations of Camp-related photos, dating back to the 1940's
  • A fundraising auction and raffles
  • Door prizes!

Details

Tickets are $10 per person for members of the Alumni Association, or $15 per person for non-members. If you sign up for membership at the same time as purchasing tickets, tickets will be $5. Children under Scouting age (6 years and under) are free. Those with Family or Lifetime Association memberships pay the member rate for all members of their household. Signing up for those memberships entitles you to the discounted $5 rate for all household members as well. We ask that you please purchase tickets before January 5th, so we are better able to make arrangements for the buffet.

Tickets will be available through the Narragansett Council Office and through the Council Scout shops beginning November 18th. You may also reserve tickets through the mail (we'll hold them at the door for you) by sending a check for the cost of the tickets to:

Camp Cachalot Alumni Association 2005 Show
  c/o Narragansett Council, BSA
P. O. Box 14777
Providence, RI 02914

Checks should be made payable to "Narragansett Council BSA" with a memo of "Camp Cachalot Alumni Association."

Bring Your Own Memories

Have memorabilia of your own you'd like to show off? Bring it along! We'd love to see it! If you have a lot of material to bring along, please drop us an email at expo2005@cachalotalumni.org and we'll try to set aside some space for you to set it up for viewing.

We are especially interested in any old photos of Camp that you might have. If you have pictures, feel free to bring them with you — we plan to have a computer scanning station set up and staffed by a member of our History committee to scan in prints and slides. Our ability to scan things in will be limited by the time we have available, so if you are able to scan things in yourself, feel free to bring them along in electronic form (CD- or DVD- recordable, USB or Firewire drive — contact curator@cachalotalumni.org if you have any questions about the formats we can cope with.) The higher the resolution, the better.

We look forward to seeing you (again)!
